Course Name:  Introduction to Youth Work – 12 hours training – 12 (CPD) credits

The Introduction to working with young people training aims to help participants identify different types of youth work and settings, as well as the benefits of informal education. Participants will learn how to communicate effectively to make and maintain relationships with young people, as well as understand the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The course also explores how prejudice, discrimination, and oppressive behaviour occur and affect people.

The course covers:

  • Different types of youth work and settings 
  • Informal education and it’s the benefits
  • Group dynamics, group work, and roles people play within groups 
  • Listening and communication skills
  • The development of young people and the transition from adolescence to adulthood
  • Prejudice, discrimination, and oppressive behaviour
  • The role of the worker

Duration:
The course consists of 12 hours. It can be delivered over two days or 4 sessions.
