The purpose of the training is for adults to learn new skills, knowledge and understanding of how to engage and support children’s play.
To understand what is needed to enable children to engage in freely chosen play opportunities.
To introduce adults to the importance of play and enhance people’s confidence in working with children and young people in a variety of settings.
The course covers:

- The importance of play
- Child Development
- Managing Behaviour
- Child Protection
- Equality and Diversity
- Team Building
- How to create an effective play space
- Risk Assessments
- Group activities that encourages participation and cooperation
- The role and responsibilities of the worker
The course consists of 20 hours. It is delivered over 4 days, ideally one day a week, or over six sessions.
Quality play opportunities are where, children can learn and develop a range of invaluable physical, mental and social skills. When play is freely chosen, it provides opportunities for the individual child to achieve their full potential while being careful not to control the child’s direction or choice.
